About

id photoMy name is Ted McCormick, and I research and write about the ways people thought about and tried to change society and nature, especially in Britain, Ireland, Europe, and the Atlantic in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. I teach early modern European history and history of science at Concordia University, in Montreal.

My official academic website is here. A lot of my scholarly work can be read, generally in pre-publication form, here. My award-winning(!) book on William Petty (1623-87), who thought he could make the Irish English, is here. (Unfortunately, it’s very expensive. I’m trying to make the next one cheaper.)

I’m on Twitter (@mccormick_ted). My email is ted[dot]mccormick[at]concordia[dot]ca.
